The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 adds to the already high level of confidence, tough style, and power the 2020 Silverado 1500 brought to the streets and dirt roads. New additions to this crowd-favorite truck include:

  • The Multi-Flex Tailgate: This tailgate has six different functions to allow easier access to the bed, act as a workstation, and more.
  • Trailer Length Indicator: This trailering technology helps account for the added length of your trailer when changing lanes.
  • Jack-Knife Alert: This technology helps you avoid compromising jack-knife situations with a trailer.
  • Cargo Bed View Enhancement: This gives you guidelines on a special in-bed camera to help you align a gooseneck/fifth-wheel trailer.

Trim Levels

The 2021 Chevy Silverado comes in a wide array of options to help you find the truck best suited to your needs. Whether you go with the basic Work Truck (WT) or chose a more select trim level for access to your favorite features, there’s a Silverado for every driver. Besides the WT, there’s the Custom, the Custom Trail Boss, the Luxury Touring (LT), the Rally Sport Truck (RST), the LT Trail Boss, the LTZ, and the most luxurious trim level, the High Country.

Exterior Features

There are 10 factory paint color options available for the 2021 Silverado 1500. Depending on which trim level you choose, you’ll have the option between the regular, double, and crew cab. Then you’ll have the choice between three bed lengths: the 69.92-inch short bed, 79.44-inch standard bed, and the 98.18-inch long bed.

Aesthetically, the 2021 Silverado 1500 is the truck to beat in the new model year. Each trim brings its own offerings – including unique badging and grilles – to the Silverado’s exterior. Wheel size options vary from 18 to 22 inches. The LT Trail Boss Midnight edition adds black-on-black accents, assist steps, and a 2-inch factory suspension lift. The Rally Editions for the RST and Custom trim levels give your truck sporty black hoods and stripes and black exhaust tips.

Multi-Flex Tailgate and Bed Features

One of the biggest draws to the new Silverado is its brand-new tailgate. This advanced, six-function tailgate is available on all trim levels. You can use it as a conventional tailgate, or leave it down and flip up the load stop to keep longer items in place. Use the drop-down step for easier bed access. The multi-functional Multi-Flex tailgate can be customized to address the needs of today’s jobs.

The bed is also a class-leading feat. It offers up to a best-in-class 89.1 cubic feet of cargo bed volume. You can secure your load with the 12 standard tie-downs. Opt for the optional bed LED lighting system and power-up/-down feature for a truck bed made to take on the modern world.

Engine Options

The 2021 Silverado 1500 engine options available to it, including two V8s and a diesel. Here are those engines starting with the standard loadout:

  • 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6: 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque
  • 2.7-liter Turbocharged four-cylinder: 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque
  • 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8: 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque
  • 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8: 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque
  • Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel: 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque

These engines are matched to a six-speed, eight-speed, or 10-speed automatic transmission.

Towing and Payload

The 2021 Silverado 1500 can handle up to 13,300 pounds when properly equipped. It offers a maximum payload rating of 2,280 pounds.

The new Silverado has access to an impressive array of towing features. The 15 available camera views, including a bird’s-eye view, help you maneuver your truck and trailer through the tightest spaces. A tire pressure and temperature monitoring system let you keep an eye on your trailer’s health. Trailer lighting diagnostics, integrated trailer brake controllers, pre-departure checklists – the 2021 Silverado makes towing a breeze.

Interior Comfort

As you move up the new Silverado’s trim levels, the cabin becomes more luxurious. If you want everything the new Silverado has to offer, opt for the High Country’s perforated leather upholstery for heated and ventilated front seats. The 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat lets you fit the Silverado’s cockpit to you instead of the other way around. Opt for the rear under-seat storage feature and the rear seat-back storage compartments to stow and organize smaller items throughout the cabin.

Technology

Each new Silverado 1500 comes equipped with a touch screen that keeps you connected and entertained. The Android Auto and Apple CarPlay programs allow you to connect your phone to your truck for hands-free access to many of your favorite apps. The Teen Driver technology lets you keep tabs on how your young driver is performing. A wireless phone charger, a head-up display, Wi-Fi hot spot, and more are all available upgrades for the Silverado this year.

Smart Safety

The 2021 Silverado 1500 has access to some of the industry’s most advanced driver-assist technologies. These features use outboard sensors to scan the road around you for potential dangers. These include the forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane-change alert with side blind-zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and more. These technologies work in conjunction with the conventional passive safety features – such as advanced airbags and a high-strength steel frame – to keep you safer on the road.
